This is a pre-residency entry, as I went on to the cyber world and learn as much as I can through popular culture and historical entries of the Philippines phallic god, Lakambakod aka Lachan Bacor.
A phallic god who was the protector of the growing crops and healer of diseases. His name literally means “great/noble fence”, from Lakan (a title of nobility) + bakod (fence) according to Diksyunaryo-Tesauro Pilipino-Ingles by J.V. Panganiban. Some sources claim him to be a protector of houses.

So it looks like this project will be linked to what I did at Nau Coclea in 2011, but we'll see.
On the other hand, I have prepared the works from Vitamin C Kingdom to be shown at the group show, New Nationalism in Light & Space Contemporary at the end of the residency. The works can be seen here.
I hope at the end of the intensive a week stay at Quezon City, I will be able to get a grip of how my Lachan Bacor will be. For a start, I will be looking at Macho Dancers. Not very difficult to find as the lists are here.
And in response to the initial research for the residency and the exhibition, I will be experimenting with maize (corns, here), as Lachan Bacor are portrayed as the growing crops god. This then was expanded to vitamin C and penis enlargement, which of course linked to my much earlier work, Self Portrait with Banana.
Interestingly, the Philippines have a native banana which is known as Saba Bananas, here. As far as I know, they are stumpy but seemed to be able to grow large sized.
